on writing (with consistency)

I wrote the first part about this here.

I decided to write every day or atleast every few days. But so far, I have spent more time writing the list of topics about which I want to write than actually writing. This is my fourth post here, but I have a list of 39 topics on my Notion page.

So yes, writing is hard and writing with consistency is harder.
But why?

I guess writing on Twitter/Linkedin has a low entry barrier. You can just start writing. I have tried it. But for most of us you fall in the social proof trap. As you get social feedback on your tweets/posts you are inclined towards writing similar tweets/posts which are getting likes/shares. So rather than writing what you want to, you write what is getting traction. I think this kills imagination.

Repeating this over time makes your write more of the same. I wish I can write long threads on Twitter without being driven by external factors. But I find it to be very hard.

Or may be in a good way you gain deep experience by writing around the same topics over a long term. This is how people build their niches. The probability of that happening with a generalist like me is super low in my opinion.

Finally, I cannot afford ghost writers and I find the GenAI written articles too predictable. So here we are.
