on the unfairness of life

I have written about this earlier. But I am adding some more of my thoughts as I watch the Indian contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Sports is the greatest mediums through which life expresses itself.

A lot of us, including me, often cry about how life is unfair and how life does not give you what you deserve.

Then I look at these athletes playings sports at the highest level competing for a podium place, and when due to some circumstances not in their control go against them and they do not come anywhere close to the podium or even worse is when they know they are clearly the best athlete in that group but still do not win Gold, how does that feel?

I believe a common person like me cannot even imagine that feeling. Yes, we can sympathise but cannot come close to feeling that feeling. And then how do you come out of that heartbreak and go back to practice and grind ? And what do you tell yourself to motivate yourself ? Do you blame everything around you and your life and fate and give up on life ?

How do you move on ? And that is exactly what champions are made of. Rather that is what makes you a champion, when you fail, go through a brutal heartbreak and go back to the grind and rise again. Rise.

As I write this post, I see this poem someone posted on X. I wish I can remind myself of this post and the courage of champions during my own struggles, draw some inspiration from these true champions and rise.
